I’m not sure how many reasons you’d need to have to be getting married in Sienna because its in Tuscany! Why would you need another reason!? Well first of all there are many regions to Tuscany and you may have decided on this beautiful part of Italy to get married in but it’s still a tough decision. This breathtaking medieval city could possibly be the most popular part of Tuscany to get married. As a Tuscany Wedding Photographer I’m super lucky to have photographed weddings here and its pretty spectacular.
The nearest airport to this Italy Wedding Location is Florence and takes about an hour to get to. The next nearest from here is Pisa and then finally Rome which is about 2 hours and 40 minutes away.
This city is actually older than Rome and was originally founded by the Etruscans. You can enjoy all this beautiful Italian history easily on foot in Siena as the cobbled streets are just for pedestrians and this makes it super easy to get around and enjoy the city. If you have an artistic eye then you’ll not be disappointed as everywhere you look you’ll see something beautiful. So much incredible architecture to be admired. If just yourself and your partner are considering getting married here alone it really is one of the best places to elope in Europe.
Italy is known for its beautiful squares and this one in Siena Piazza del Campo does not disappoint. It houses some incredible halls and this is where most of Italys civil wedding ceremonies take place. This is a great place for you to visit before or after your wedding. Your wedding guests can also make the most of their destination wedding trip by soaking up the Tuscan culture.
To combine things to do with history next, as well as something fun for your wedding guests to do. The worlds oldest horse race happened here in Siena and its name is the Palio. This dates back all the way until the early 1300’s. It difficult to make this place worth a trip but its a super popular attraction and you must book early to avoid disappointment.
More Tuscan history tied in with weddings now as Siena is home to Duomo. This is one of Italy’s most amazing Gothic Cathedrals. Known for its incredible marble interior of black and white stripes. In fact this place is so sought after its only open for two months of the year, September and October to try and conserve the place. The floor alone took over 200 years to complete!
Siena is home to the most amazing wedding venues and places to have your wedding ceremony. Weddings at The Abbey Of San Galgano are just breathtaking and you’ll not see many places to have a wedding ceremony quite like it. Siena is home to great traditional and beautiful Italian food too. The most delicious Tuscan cuisine is served all over the region and its pretty amazing. Wedding receptions at places such as Villa Podernovo are pretty special. The dream wedding venue for anyone getting married in Siena.
As an Italy Wedding Photographer I get to photograph weddings all over this amazing country though I really do think Tuscany is my favourite. Maybe its the light or just how I feel when I’m there. I think I know why people have a Tuscany wedding. Its a place I just want to visit again and again.
You should most definitely consider getting married in Siena though Tuscany as a whole is home so some of the most amazing wedding venues.
