Destination Wedding Photographers

Getting married abroad is becoming more and more popular and if you live in Europe you have an extremely diverse set of options to choose from. Having your wedding on the Amalfi Coast of Italy or the shore waters on the Mediterranean Sea on the coast of Croatia. From the French Rivera to further inland to the French Countryside amongst vineyards and Chateaus. Even less obvious options such as Picturesque wintery weddings in Finland or dramatic Icelandic elopements. All of these places are just a couple of hours flight from London. I guess it’s relatively easy to choose the location for your destination wedding. As you’ll select a location that means something to you both. Though how do you look through all of the Destination Wedding Photographers and find the right one for you? I can help in one way by describing how I work and showcasing some of my work as a destination wedding photographer.

Getting Married Abroad

How exciting! You’re getting married abroad! I absolutely know how you’re feeling as I myself got married abroad in Cyprus. In fact, I’m so passionate about destination weddings that I wrote this article titled; 10 Reasons You Should Get Married Abroad. One of the things that concerned us was booking our suppliers and finding the right people for the job. So being both experienced in having a destination wedding myself and also being an experienced destination wedding photographer you’re in great hands.

If you’re a couple looking for a less traditional approach to your wedding photography and you want photos that don’t have an over-edited style then I’d love to hear from you. I understand you’ll be investing a lot into your wedding and I’d love to have a chat with you to discuss what it is about your wedding that is so important. I’m guessing you want the most natural pictures that show who you are as people and for me to capture the connections between those most important to you.

Please have a quick watch of this video to understand how I approach my destination weddings.

Destination Wedding Photographers

European Destination Weddings

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings in some of the most beautiful locations in Europe. One of my personal favorites is my time as a Tuscany Wedding Photographer. I’ve spent time shooting couples on the French Riviera and in the French Countryside. In Spain, I got to shoot the wedding of a couple in the vibrant city of Barcelona. A remote island for a wedding in Greece. Also on the gorgeous island of Sicily in the town of Taormina. There are some countries I’ve yet to shoot weddings in. I’m super excited to maybe photograph weddings in places like Croatia or Finland. Most of my experience is in being an Italy Wedding Photographer though. After all it’s one of the most popular places to get married abroad for good reason!

Weddings In Italy

Italy is one of the most popular destination wedding locations on the planet. Not just in Europe. In fact, one in 5 British couples said they would love to have their wedding in Italy. Things can be complex for marriage here. Especially the legal side of getting married in Italy. Though if you want it enough there is no stopping you really because whether you want the Mountains of Lake Garda in the background or would like to wed on the banks of Lake Como, you really can make an Italy wedding happen.

Weddings in France

Most of my destination work is spread over Italy though somewhere I’d love to visit more, is France. I photographed the wedding of a Frenchman and an English lady in a remote place called Domaine Des Bruguières. I loved this outdoor wedding and also their pre-wedding shoot on a secluded beach in Nice. The south coast of France is beautiful though I did some research on some Chateau’s that I would love to photograph weddings at. I found some amazing wedding venues and really hope to get there someday.

Weddings in Cyprus

This beautiful Mediterranean island is quite special to me as I lived here for 4 years. There are some incredible coastal venues in Paphos and Protaras. Though my favorite wedding venues are the remote ones inland and are in towns that are overloaded with Cypriot culture. In the town of Lefkara, there is a beautiful venue called Dafermou Winery that has a real Cypriot authenticity to it and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. With the weather being so great all year round here is no wonder why Cyprus is so popular.

Weddings In Spain

Espana! A great location for a destination wedding as the weather is pretty awesome here too. It has amazing wedding venues from deep in the Spanish countryside to charismatic cities such as Barcelona. As far as British couples are concerned it’s super easy to access too. This makes things easy for your wedding guests and their travel arrangements. Not only do you have mainland Spain, but the islands belonging to this country also are super popular for brides and grooms-to-be. Places such as Ibiza and Majorca are popular, though just type those names into google and hit images and you’ll soon see why!

Weddings In Greece

A very highly considered location for weddings abroad. Most weddings in Greece are stereotypical but for very good reason. The gorgeous weather, blue skies, and blue waters with clean white buildings have destination wedding photographers queuing up to shoot weddings here. Mainland Greece has plenty of culture and history, imagine your wedding being a part of that history! Though more often than not people opt to tie the knot on the greek islands.

Worldwide Destination Weddings

Love covers not just Europe but the whole planet. From a small elopement in the Dolomites to far off continents. In almost every continent there is a wedding every day. Destination wedding photographers fly around the world to capture these amazing love stories. As I’m based in Europe that’s where most of my wedding photography takes place though this year I’m heading to a new continent to capture a destination wedding. I’m going to add these countries and images from the weddings to the shortlist (very shortlist for now) as I shoot more weddings across the world. I’ll also put down some places I’d love to shoot weddings. Heading out to new locations and new countries helps with my inspiration to make my award winning wedding photos that I get to share with couples to help give them confidence in booking an experienced photographer.

Weddings In Sri Lanka

My first destination wedding in Asia will take place this year and I’m super excited. With so much experience shooting weddings abroad, I feel super confident about traveling this far for a wedding. Working in the heat is something I’m used too also. I’ll be flying into Columbo and documenting a very adventurous wedding on the west coast of the island. It’s not the most popular place for weddings as it is relatively remote. For people in the west at least. Destination Wedding Photographers don’t always get the opportunity to travel to this location so I’m not going to take a second for granted.

Weddings In Kenya

As I go into 2023 I’m looking back at my first destination wedding of 2022. Priya + Alex had me out to Kenya at Vipingo Ridge not too far from Mombassa for a 3 day Kenyan Destination wedding. After flying out to Nairobi. I had to take a 2-hour flight to a coastal town called Malindi. I’m in the process of writing up a blog about this amazing cultural wedding. The ceremony took place in a mango forest with multiple events happening around it, including a Sangeet on the beach.

Weddings In Ireland

Its not known for its hot beaches or its Italian vibe venues but I can assure you as an Ireland Wedding Photographer that Ireland is home to the nicest people and incredible wedding venues. After shooting at amazing wedding venues like Adare Manor and the stunning place that is The Powerscourt Estate I’ve fallen in love with shooting here. It’s not known for its hot sunny weather but don’t let that put you off. The best time of year to get married in Ireland is anytime. Though feel free to check out the guide for more info on this.

Things To Note

Hiring A Destination Wedding Photographer

How Much Does A Destination Wedding Cost?

Financially speaking I have just one flat fee for my destination weddings. There are no hidden costs. Travel or accommodation charges. Just one fee that covers everything. I’m super open and transparent about my pricing. Get in touch and I’ll send over some information for you right away!

How Do We Book You As Our Destination Wedding Photographer?

Once we’ve had a good chat to get to know each other a little and you’ve decided that your search for destination wedding photographers is over. I need a small deposit to secure your date along with you completing a short booking form. The final balance for your wedding is then due one month before the wedding date.

Destination Wedding Insurance

I’m not sure if you have insurance for your destination wedding. However, as a destination wedding photographer, I’m fully insured and can provide any documentation you may need. You may need this if your destination wedding venue requests it. Sometimes the wedding planners request it from me. It’s good to know you’re in safe hands though.

Wedding Albums

Your wedding day will be an incredible story from start to finish. In a beautiful adventurous location. Can you imagine how beautiful it’s going to look? It’s worth investing in an album for sure. Something tangible you can hold. I’ll provide info for these when I send over my destination wedding pricing.

Traveling To Destination Weddings

I always book my flights for my destination weddings in advance and aim to fly out at least 2 days before my wedding. I arrange all of my own transport entirely. I hire a car so I’m in complete control of where and when I need to be placed. I’m a fully British citizen and carry a full UK-in-date passport. So if its southern Italy or you’re having a Dolomites wedding. I’m there every time.

Weddings Near & Far

Being based in the UK gives me really good ease of access to all of Europe. Also with major airports in Manchester and London traveling further afield is not a problem. I’m super excited to be photographing a destination wedding in Sri Lanka later this year. There is nowhere too far for me.

Your Destination Wedding Photos

Once your wedding is over and your honeymoon has been completed and your life has been brought back to reality. I hold with me the power for your to relive your wedding day all over again through my emotive photography. These destination wedding photographs will be delivered to you in an online gallery with a slideshow. You’d also receive a USB through the post. I aim to deliver my weddings as fast as possible, though rushing something so intimate and important is not something I do. It can take between 6 and 10 weeks for you to receive your wedding photos though I’ll be sure to send you some sneak peeks in between!
