As a wedding photographer I’m endlessly looking at wedding pictures and sometimes I love to sit back and just take one image in foley on its own. This is when i came up for the idea of this series of why I love this wedding photo. From time to time I love to go through my photos and remember why I took that specific shot and why I love it so much. I like to think my photos look great but I want them to feel great too. A wedding photo should be part of a story and this one is one of my favourites.

The West Tower is a great wedding venue is get married in. I even featured it on my Best Lancashire Wedding Venues post.

If you’ve not guessed already this wedding photo is one of the bride having her dress fastened by her bridesmaids. Now this photo could of been taken from any angle. Although for this particular shot I wanted to get in close to the action. I’ve witnessed many dresses being fastened at weddings and some of them can be super fiddly.

More often than not the mother of the bride os the one who fastens the wedding dress if it needs to be. I love the break from tradition and the fact the girls fastened the dress together. Both overcoming the fiddlyness. <– thats not a real word and my spell check doesn’t like it. I do like it though and it works so there.

I waned to remove any distractions from the image and let this one become part of the story. Even if it is in a really subtle way. I love the light and the intricate angles of their fingers. Somehow it looks like they are putting lots of care into their task of fastening the wedding dress.

Thats what I love about weddings in general. I love that a wedding is a story and I love to capture it so you can feel and enjoy the story over and over.

I’m sure the couple won’t have a 30″ photo of this up on their wall at home, though I think this wedding photo will make the bride smile when she looks back at it.

To wrap up why I love this wedding photo. It reminds me of Jayne and Greggs Winter Wedding and it was such a great day. Its like another reminder of how lucky I am to do what I do for a living.
