Bahamas Wedding Photographer
There is something very special about photographing a wedding in the Bahamas. Warm trade winds, powder soft sand, that unreal turquoise water and a pace of life that instantly slows everyone down. I recently photographed Victoria and Shelby’s wedding on Kamalame Cay, a private island retreat off Andros Island in the Bahamas. It is a 96 acre cay with oceanfront cottages, palm lined beaches and an overwater spa, regularly voted one of the top resorts in the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Kamalame Cay It was the perfect backdrop for a relaxed celebration with close family and friends and exactly the sort of setting I love to document.
If you are looking for a Bahamas wedding photographer, this guide will give you a feel for costs, what to expect and how your photos could look.
How much does it cost to have a wedding in the Bahamas
The honest answer is that it can be surprisingly accessible or very luxurious, depending on what you choose. Broadly speaking, couples tend to fall into three brackets.
Smaller elopements or simple beach weddings
If you are dreaming of a “just us” ceremony on the sand, with a celebrant, bouquet, a few touches of decor and maybe a dinner afterwards, you might be looking at anything from around 500 to 5,000 US dollars, depending on the island, the planner you use and how much styling you want.
Resort and hotel weddings
Many Bahamas resorts offer wedding packages that include the ceremony, basic decor, some food and drink and an on site coordinator. These tend to sit roughly between 5,000 and 30,000 US dollars, with the bigger part of the budget going on guest numbers, food and the level of luxury you choose.
Private island and luxury venues
If you are drawn to private islands like Kamalame Cay, full island or large villa buyouts and multi day celebrations, you are moving into a completely different bracket. These can start from the higher end of that range and go well beyond, depending on guest count, length of stay and production.

How much is a wedding photographer in the Bahamas
As with most destinations, there is a wide range in pricing. Recent data suggests that couples in the Bahamas typically spend around 2,500 to 3,000 US dollars on photography and video together, which is roughly eight percent of an average local wedding budget. wedding.report Other research on Bahamas photographers shows starting packages around 2,500 to 3,500 US dollars, mid range options around 3,500 to 5,000 and luxury coverage from 5,000 to 8,000 plus for weekend or multi day events.
If you are flying in a destination wedding photographer whose style you love, you will usually be covering photography plus travel and accommodation. I create bespoke collections for every Bahamas enquiry, taking into account which island you choose, how many days you want covered and whether you would like extras such as pre wedding shoots, albums or rehearsal dinner coverage. You can read more about how I work with couples all over the world here: Destination Wedding Photographers.
However you decide to structure things, a good rule of thumb is to prioritise the photographer whose work you truly connect with, then build the rest of the day around that. Long after the tan has faded, the photos are the one part you will keep coming back to.
What do Bahamas wedding photos look like
Bahamas wedding photography is all about light, colour and a very relaxed feeling. Think open air ceremonies framed by palms, guests barefoot on the sand, pastel sunsets and late night dancing under the stars. On private islands like Kamalame Cay you also get quiet, unspoilt stretches of beach and little sand roads lined with trees, perfect for unhurried portraits.
My approach is a blend of storytelling and gentle editorial guidance. If you love natural, emotion filled moments, have a look at how I work as one of the Candid Wedding Photographers couples book for destination celebrations. For portraits, I lean into clean compositions, interesting light and a more magazine inspired feel, which you can see in my work as one of the Editorial Wedding Photographers.
Despite all the incredible Caribbean colour, some of my favourite frames from the Bahamas are in black and white. Stripping the scene back to light and shadow lets the emotion take over, and it suits those quiet in between moments so well. You can see what I mean here: Black and White Wedding Photos.
