123 Photos Of Weddings
Photography is such an amazing hobby or profession to have. Almost everyone has a camera today and millions of photos are taken everyday around the world. I’m lucky enough to be a wedding photographer and taking photos of weddings is something I do for a living. So after spending over half a decade travelling the world shooting weddings I thought I’d put a collection of wedding photos together for you to have a browse over.
Perhaps your getting married and you’re planning a wedding soon. Perhaps you’re after some inspiration for you wedding. I really hope these wedding photos give you some ideas or the inspiration your looking for. Some of the best photos that can be taken are generally candid photos. The great thing about shooting weddings is that there are so many candid moments that are happening from the early stages of the bridal and groom preparations all they way through to the cutting of the cake and the first dance.
I’ll try to categorise these 100 photos of weddings to break the images down a little for you.
Getting Ready Photos
When you’re wedding day comes along, one thing you can be sure of is that it’s going to go by incredibly fast. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve said to my brides and grooms at the end of the night; “How fast has the day gone!? But don’t worry I’ve captured it all in my camera here!” So I always mention to the bridal and groom parties that take things slow and enjoy the morning. I’ll capture the candid moments whilst you enjoy relaxing before the ceremony begins.
Wedding Ceremony Photos
When I’m taking photos of wedding ceremonies there are so many mixed emotions. There are always smiles, sometimes tears and always plenty of love. That’s why these are so great to photograph. A ceremony doesn’t begin at the end of the isle when the vicar or celebrant beings speaking. A wedding ceremony begins when the groom is waiting patiently for his bride to arrive. It begins when the bride is getting out of her wedding car right outside of the church or ceremony location. This anticipation creates so many great moments and encapsulating this anticipation is something I love to do.
Candid Wedding Photos
I believe this is what I’m employed to do most of the time as a wedding photographer. People book me as they have so many important people coming to their weddings that they will want to have someone to capture the interactions between each other and they’re moments they create. You could call these “in between” moments if you like. These moments tend to happen when there is nothing formal going on. Perhaps during the speeches, this is a good time to get candid photos. People enjoying the words of humour or of affection. Getting photos of peoples reactions is pretty awesome. Here are some nice candid wedding photos though the next section is on speeches so I’ve saved some images for that.
Photos of Wedding Speeches
Reactions. Thats what these photos are all about. All of the guests are sat down and eating food. Sat down and not doing much so it’s not so easy to capture candid moments. Though if you throw in people telling jokes, talking about the love of their lives and how much they appreciate everyone around them. It becomes a little easier to capture some great reactions. I think these photos will end up meaning a lot too all of the newly weds in many years to come. Maybe when they’re sat down on there 10th wedding anniversary they can look back on these special moments and see people being emotional and being themselves.
Wedding Party Photos
If you look across my instagram feed or my portfolio you’ll not see many of these images. It’s not that I don’t like taking them or that I don’t. I just focus my priority on shooting moments over anything staged. I say staged I keep my group photos short and as informal as possible. Though I do value the importance of them. By biggest fear is couples having a huge list of photos. So big that its takes up so much of the wedding day. The you will end up with less time for real, organic and amazing moments. Here are some images I think you’ll like though.
Bride and Groom Photos
This part of a wedding day can get mixed reviews. Some people will see this as a “staged”, “awkward” or “time consuming” part of the day. Though with my approach to photographing weddings none of this applies. This short period of time I use with my couples is much more “productive”, “fun” and “relaxing”. This is a time when I tell my brides and grooms that its a time for them both to take a break from the speed of the day and slow things down a little. It’s a time for them to be themselves with each other as newly married husbands and wives. I keep the brief “photoshoot” brief and let the couple relax whilst I photograph around them making beautiful photos for them to look back on. See how much love they have for each other whilst themselves looking incredible.
Dancing Photos At Weddings
I’m struggling with what to write for this intro here. I feel like I should just let the images do the taking. Dancing photos at weddings are so so good. I love capturing the energy of the room and putting that into a photograph. It’s almost like my camera isn’t taking images but recording the vibrancy of the mood and the vibe all of the people are creating. Obviously this only applies to the proper party photos. Though the first dance of the couple makes for great pictures too. I hope you can feel these images as much as I felt the buzz taking these.
