London Elopement In Islington
Shooting in the capital city again for this one as Joanna + Jack’s London Wedding Photographer in this gorgeous elopement in Islington. Having an elopement for many is kind of a big deal to not have all of your close friends and family around for the big day. Though there is something quite poetic about it. So documenting one with my camera was pretty cool. Just like the words in poetry unfold into something spectacular. I felt just the same about this small wedding in London.
The intimacy of just spending the day with the bride and groom for a few hours during some of the most historic and important days of their lives is something I’d not take for granted. I wanted to make sure I took a strong candid approach to documenting this special occasion. I really wanted the couple to enjoy their experience of their elopement without loads of posing around for photographs.
Here is how the story unfolded through some short text and these poetic photographs;
City Elopement Build-Up
This London love story starts at the gorgeous Ned Hotel. Joanna + Jack both love the hotel. They love the vibe, the atmosphere and the design and architecture of the place. So this was their choice for both getting ready and the night of their wedding. I did some bridal photos of Joanna in the room before heading down to meet Jack who had no idea of what Joanna would look like.
They asked me to capture his surprise and reaction to seeing Joanna ready. Also after seeing the decor in the elevators I just had to make a photo of Joanna in the light and composition I saw. I knew this would come out better in the camera than it looked with the naked eye. I hope you like it.
A Journey Through The Streets Of London
Once these two soulmates were ready, we took a traditional black cab through central London until we arrived at the charming little florist “Gail Smith Flowers” in Islington. This is where Joanna + Jack hand-picked and made Joanna’s bouquet for the elopement. The team in there were so lovely and made a really nice intimate experience for the almost newlyweds. Once the wedding bouquet was made we took a short walk through the streets of Islington until we arrived at the town hall for the wedding ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony At Islington Town Hall
This was my first time shooting a wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall and hopefully, it won’t be my last. It’s such a beautiful place to get married. The building is a beautiful listed building, its got a stunning grand façade and inside it has a gorgeous marble staircase. The ceremony room looks grand and historic and the corridors make for stunning wedding photos.
